The countdown is on for a brand-new season of American Idol, and the journey to discover the nation’s next superstar begins this August. Singers across the country will soon get their chance to shine as auditions open in multiple states throughout the South and Midwest.

These early auditions mark the first wave of the Idol audition tour, giving hopeful performers from across the region the opportunity to showcase their talent. There are some rules for who can apply to be on American Idol.
This year’s first round puts a major focus on the South and Midwest, with states like Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma expected to bring a wide range of voices and styles.
