Synopsis:
Struggling singer-songwriter, Dylan Hunt, longed to be in the spotlight but as a married father of four he felt that dream passed him by. Then, out of the blue, he and his band, Rivers Deep, sign a record contract that moves his family to Nashville.
But, when his talented teenage daughter, Molly, is killed in an accident on Christmas Eve, Dylan’s world and family come crashing down. Seeing her dad self-destructing and on the verge of losing everything, Molly, now an angel, intervenes in Dylan’s life, eventually, helping him rekindle his faith, mend his marriage, heal his heart and create a Christmas miracle no one will ever forget.
Character Breakdown
Sadie - Supporting, Female, 7-10, Great Singer and Actor
Sadie has lived in the shadows of her older sister since she can remember. She is humble, full of charity, and childlike love. When she loses her big sister she steps into the void to try her best to live up to Molly’s legacy. She feels a special closeness with heaven and helps her dad come back to what is most important.
Zane - Supporting, Male, 14-16
Zane is the typical brother in a musically inclined family. He is creative, athletic, musically talented, the cool kid, and a role model for his younger brother.
Dolly - Supporting, Female, 55-65
Dolly is Dylans mom and a widow of a few years. She is the quintessential southern Grandma to the grandkids and loves her family to pieces. She helps Dylans’ wife deal with having a spouse with big Nashville dreams and is the rock of the family. She also knows how to cook a serious Thanksgiving meal.
Nick - Supporting, Male, 35-45 (Muscian type)
Nick is Dylan’s brother and bandmate. When the band finally gets their big break he gets cold feet and decides it might be too much of a risk to pick up and move to Nashville, even with a recording contract. He attempts to talk Dylan into making a go with him in the construction field but Dylan won’t let this chance at the dream pass by.
Kevin - Supporting, Male, 35-45 (Musician type)
Rivers Deep bandmate and lifelong friend to Dylan. Kevin is more of the “take it while you’ve got it” attitude and tends to walk on the edge…a place that he tries more than once to lead Dylan into. He has animosity towards Kara for being hard on Dylan and for distracting him from pursuing the dream.
Steven - Supporting, Male, 55-65
Hotel owner who struggles with upkeep of the old Wilson Hotel and laments the homeless across the street making it more difficult to attract more business. He hires Dylan to sing at his hotel club and eventually is helped by Dylan and the community who all turn out to help revitalize the establishment.
Jim - Supporting, Male, 55-65
Hotel Bar Tender and Stevens best bud.
Jenna - Supporting, Female, 30-45
Jenna is a Nashville Record label exec who discovers the band Rivers Deep playing in a Knoxville club. She delivers the news the band has been wishing for. Eventually, after the tragedy that strikes the family shortly thereafter, her patience is tested and she eventually has to move on. She comes back around and decides the label can help with the big finale.
Mary - Supporting, Female, 7-10
Mary is homeless and arrives at school as the new girl. She is made fun of but Sadie befriends her and does her best to make her feel loved and valued.
